I have a friend who is going to vegas with his wife early October. He realizes that it is not the ideal time of year to go herping but would like to rent a car for one night of road hunting since he will be down there anyway. Does anyone know of a specific road and not the general "pick a deserted" road answer? He will only have one night to try and not under ideal conditions as it is. Thanks in advance.

Go West on a street called West Charleston. It eventually turns into a hiway and about 20 miles outside of town you will come to a place called the Red Rocks. totally awesome sandstone formations. There is a 13 mile loop with lots of turnouts with hiking trails. Your best bet at that time of year would probably be to go in the morning and go trail hunting instead of road hunting. I came close to stepping on a Mojave Rattler there in the spring time.
