As far as I know it has not changed. I got some clarification on what is native. However, I don't think the guy I talked to understood the concept of species/subspecies. If I'm correct, the Georgia law does not distinguish between subspecies. If the nominate species resides in the state, then all of those subspecies are legal. What I specifically asked about was the Broad-banded Copperhead. It is a subspecies of the copperhead, in which we have 2 subspecies of. So, would all copperheads be legal or just Northern and Southern. The game warden I talked to said, "Well you can't keep any rattlesnake, just the ones that live here." I told him that there were different species of rattlesnakes but there is only one species of copperhead with 5 different subspecies. He replied (direct quote) "If it don't live here, you can't keep it."
