I was wondering if you guys could direct me to some books on venomous snakes. I am in no way experienced enough to keep one, but just love to learn everything I can about them. Also if there is anyone out there from the western kentucky area that keeps venomous snakes I would like to get in touch with you and learn a little.

Here's some of the best.
Rattlesnake: Portrait of a Perditor, by Manny Rubio
Rattlesnakes, by Lawrence Klauber
The Agkistrodon Complex, by Gloyd and Conant
Dangerous snakes of Africa, by Sprawels and Branch There is another that covers SA species, but I don't have it and have forgotten the title (ashamed).
Alas, many of these are out of print. However, they can be had from the library, and it's possible that a used book ouutfit can find them. Try Amazon.com first. Also, there are vendors at the reptile shows that specalize that sort of thing (bring dollars).
It is my understanding that the SHHS will be bringing out Allen and Susan Hunter's excellent, 'Venom 101', a MUST read for anyone comtemplating hots. And it's a good touch-up for us ol' timers as well.
Here's a forum that you might want to visit. It's general herp, but some highly experienced hot keepers are regulars on it.

I swear by Bibliomania when I'm trying to get herp-related literature. You can get a phone number from www.herplit.com and pull iup a catalogue. There are a few items on various venomous. It helps to be a bit more specific, though. Are you after husbandry info? Or how aboutr the natural history of specific snakes? Or how about getting into the real fun: toxicology?
Breck has info on all of them.
