I know people were upset about the man on the steve harvey show that put the 7 or 8 rattlers in his mouth. well i was at a taping tonight while on vacation in LA and this time, on that very same show, 2 men kiss (one of them licks the hood for awhile) a monocled cobra and freehandle it as if it's nothing. I think it airs sunday and while I did my best to make a calm and organized complaint to the producers, they just shrugged me off and said it's entertaining and people love to see it. Man, goodbye hobby before I'm old enough to be able to financailly afford to responsibly aquire and house these magnificant animals.

Get over it. Were not the only ones who can keep snakes. Other people have just as much right to them. They arent killing them. I get sick of hearing, oh my hobby, please help my hobby. We need to focus more on conservation and protection than keeping snakes in our rooms. You get people interested in conservation by showing them something that is captivating and exciting.

The image that comes from these types of shows hurt the private keepers because the public right or wrong think we are all like the ego maniacs that appear on TV harassing and making a sideshow. Also any information given out by these people becomes fact to the general public so then keepers have to fight more misinformation.
Conservation thru sideshow acts. Thats a new one to me. These people that perform these stunts care nothing about the animals only getting their 15 minutes of fame.
Wildboys on MTV, Austin on AP and these guys freehandling only want ratings and will do anything to get them including hurting the animals and their image to the public.
Write letters and call TV producers let them know how you feel about these types of sideshows.

i seriously doubt that we can do anything to take these shows off the air. i also think that these shows have given venomous snake keeping alot more popularity. which is not necssarily a good thing. i know that if it wasnt for jeff corwin and steve irwin renewing my childhood passion i wouldnt keep hot snakes today. jeff corwin is a good role model in my oppinion, and steve irwin is ok, he is obviously crazy but as fas as ive seen he doesnt give false info and doesnt inadvertently vilify snakes like austin stevens.

The people on the show will find out that kissing any snake can end up with very bad markings on thier face. I say you wait to say anthing again till they git bit.
