I would strenuously urge anyone from NC to start letter writing campaigns addressing NC Bill 1032. This is an issue we can not afford to let lie! Write your Senator. Write Senator Garwood. I know some are concerned by the form letter being sent out of Garwoods office. They aren't reading our letters but they will start paying attention if enough responses go in. You are likely to be taken more seriously by your Senator. Write both. Do not write angry letters full of accusations. Write concerned thoughtful letters addressing the specifics of the bill. Use spell check and proper grammer. Be serious. Get everyone you can to do the same. Post on every web site you can. Tell all the breeders and dealers that you know. If you know Herpetologists, Vets, Zoologists...etc., try to enlist their testimony and help. We need to maintain a focused effort if we hope to prevail. If any of the professionals who sometimes contribute to this site would offer any advice or be willing to testify it would be greatly appreciated.

I have contacted my senator. I have also addressed both the Speaker of the House and the Senate President (your senator).
My senator is favorable to us. He has asked that we write down the problems with the proposed legislation and alternatives.
This law has already been passed in some of the counties of NC --Davidson for one.
I think that regulation can be positive if it is done reasonably. Anyone with ideas on what to write, please send them to me. I have to get this going.
I have some friends that keep big cats--they're not laying back either. They're going to put a big ad in the animal finders guide to let everyone (200 subscribers in NC) know.
You are absolutely right when you admonish the people to take care in their grammer, etc. This is serious business!

I like calling them, this way I know they hear me.
We need to work on the senators in Judiciary II commitee, thats where the bill is now.

I have written the pres. of the senate, sen. garwood, and the entire judiciary comittee. next i will follow up with phone calls. i am e-mailing breeders, dealers and hobbiests urging them to do the same. i'm taking a petition to the reptile show in raleigh at the end of the month. if you live in NC and want to keep reptiles you better do the same.
