I will be moving to Minnesota in a few months. I was wondering what the venomous laws were there. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they were entirely outlawed, considering many counties don't allow people to keep snakes over 6' in length.
Another Mn question: I lived in southeast Mn for 12 years and only saw garters and 1 redbelly snake. I know there are several interesting colubrids up there, and I was wondering what methods are used to finding them. Down here in the southeast its mainly flipping and roadcruisin, but I'm pretty sure road cruising wouldnt be very productive up there.
Thanks for any and all help - Cole

Cole,
Good to hear from another Minnesota handler (soon). The state's laws run like this: native venomous---permit required. Exotic venomous---no permit required. HOWEVER, each individual city can enact laws as they see fit. Last time I checked, Coon Rapids and White Bear Lake were a couple of the only places with no venomous restrictions. Definitely check out where you plan on moving to, sure to save you a hassle. Hope this helped.

If you told me the street theres a good chance I'd know it. I was out and about around there all this summer, played basketball a lot at a church on 42nd. Do you use AIM or have an email address I could contact you at?
