Hy guys. I just got back from Greece this morning and I am 100 % exhausted and a little demoralised. I didn`t catch as many snakes as I would have liked to, but anyway, here`s this trip`s herp list:
1 Testudo marginata
several Testudo hermanni
several Emys orbicularis (seened)
2 TRACHEMYS SCRYPTA ELEGANS (that`s right, american species introduced in Europe)
a lot of Natrix natrix persa (both seened and caught)
3 baby Dolichophis caspius
1 adult Hierophis gemonensis(seened)
1 Platyceps najadum (seened)
tons of Lacerta viridis (mostly seened)
several Lacerta trilineata(seened)
several Podarcis taurica (mostly seened)
1 Podarcis muralis(seened)
several Ablepharus kitaibelli (just 2 caught)
This is everything that I`ve seen in the wild in this expedition. I also bought my self a baby Lampropeltis getulus californiae from a pet shop in Athens.
Happy herping ya`ll...Alex S.

Alex: Sounds like a great trip to me ! I guess you have seen a lot of those animals in the wild before, but it would be amazing for a lot of us who have only seen those animals in collections ! Best Regards JohnZ

I guess that`s true. But still, out of about 20 species of snake that live there I only saw 4 and caught 2. And both species also live in Romania. Actualy, everything that I saw there except for Testudo marginata and Trachemy scrypt lives in Romania too. It was a plesent trip anyway. I had good weather, I went to the beach and even took a swim in the Egeen Sea.
