I am in need of rattles from various species of Rattlesnakes to use in educational and conservational presentations given to school children (K-8th grades).
Program currently includes harmless native Reptiles and Amphibians as well as photographs of our venomous species. It would be nice for the children to have something tangible to touch while relating to a photo.
Because I refuse to support the killing of wild animals for profit I am limited as to where I can find them available.
If you have any rattles from naturally deceased animals (road kill is fine) and wish to donate them to a good cause please drop me an email. I will gladly pay shipping and a small fee for the specimens. Please remember that I AM NOT interested in rattles that have been collected in conjunction with roundups or other means of commercial harvest.
Many thanks in advance!

Hey man, I always run into DOR's while I'm out cruising so I'll start grabbin' the rattles if someone else hasn't beat me to em...

Scott,
I would truly appreciate it! Even if someone else responds please keep me in mind when you run across a DOR. Since tiny hands can sometimes be rough on fragile items it wouldn't hurt to have several backups.
Thanks again

I have to say I am somewhat disappointed with the lack of response from fellow keepers regarding my need for rattles.
Many threads have been started regarding the needless killing of these animals due to roundups and sheer ignorance. Yet in an effort to obtain rattles from naturally occuring deaths or DOR's I get a grand total of one response (which was appreciated).
The next time you whine about the needless killing please remember my request! I need these items for educational use and without fellow herpers willing to help one another out I am left with two options.
#1 Continue my presentation with only pictures and no tangible items for the children to relate to.
#2 Purchase these items from the aftermath of the roundups (which only validates and furthers this event).
Once again, I am not asking for handouts and will pay reasonable fees for the items.
Thanks for listening to my rant!
