Hi guys i was thinking of adding this book to my collection . This costs £56.50 which is about $100 in america i think . This has been reviewed by chris harper and rabies but what are the contents of this book , what does it go into a lot of detail about ? i dont want to spend a lot of money on a book that isn't worth it. Do you think it is worth its money ?
Thanks.

Shaun, other than the fact that it is dated (1983), I've heard nothing but good things about it. Click Snake Venom Poisoning on your browser and you'll be able to find its contents. Hope this helps.

Hi
This was my first book on venomous bites, and I have no regrets in buying it. Slightly out dated but an amazing piece of work. If you tell us exactly what it is you want to read up on, maybe we can sugest something? If your still unsure.

A good book to start on, with out breaking the bank account is "The Subtle Beast" by Andre Menez ISBN 0-415-28498-8 £15. This expalins the chemistry of how the venom works and how to stop it etc. Don't be put off by the price, this book goes into some depth and would prepare you well to go further in your study, from which you could decide whether you wish to go more towards the chemistry or the clinical (my main field of interest)side of snake venoms. This is an area where the bank account get raped! Ask my wife, over the past few years I have spent easly £1500 on books based purely on the medical side of venomous animals, let alone maintaining my own collection.

Thanks john, though i dont have it in my book collection i have had a bit of a read. The soft cover is a good price i think i ll buy that . Venom, Phospholipase A2 Enzymes sounds like a good book its about 511 pages but i dont't want to judge how good it is by the name of the title and its price tag.
cheers.

Hi Shaun
forgot to mention, when your looking for books, search the web thoroughly to find the cheapest. Did you get your prices from NHBS? My copy of "Venom Phospholipase A2 Enzymes" cost me £24! From Amazon UK! A word of warning, this book is heavy reading (for me anyway)so a good dictionary and anatomy physiology book at hand is required. Then again I might be just getting to old.
