Harold: You mention that you try to help out and educate people who are using old, worn out terms. Then you say why bother.
I think you bother, because of the very degeneration you see in the hobby, and your desire to keep it from going further. Also, what you consider decades old news is still not well known to many folks. You just might be better informed because of the field you work in.
It is NOT a Waste Of Time, as there are many Young People out there who are anxious to learn, and will, if you take the time to explain things to them.
As far as changing well established ideas in older persons, that is often more difficult.
Please keep trying to help out! You will reach some! And those will make a difference.
