OK, here we go again on this everlasting fight against Venomoids. Yesterday, a fool by the username "ReptileFanatic" posted a classified add about a Venomoid Rhino. He has also posted a picture of himself free handling the Viper. Arguments on this subject will never end, so I see no point in going further on the topic. But I feel that at least because of the foolish photo he has chosen to use this add should be immediately deleted. Please tell me I am not alone on this.

No need for arguments or debates.
Has anyone ever thought to just email one of the site managers about an ad rather than start a thread about it?
I know my email has been VERY public since I first got on the internet.

I take the slap about venomoidreptiles.org very personally and don't appreciate it. It is not illegal to sell venomoids although I strenuously argue against creating them. Don't just slam the site over an ad you don't like. That is not the way to get things done in anyone's favor.

PS - The ad was removed due to the free handling picture which could give an erroneous idea concerning dangerously venomous animals. KHB
PPS That is: B u z z t a i l 1 @ h o t m a i l . c o m - a lot of people forget the "1" KHB

Karl: the statement "www.venomoidreptiles.org" was in no way directed to you or any other member of the SHHS. It was however directed to the person placing the add. My first thought was to tell "ReptileFanatic" that this site IS NOT "www.venomoidreptiles.org". I guess I should have gone with my initial thought. No need to take it as a personal slam against you or the SHHS.
As far as emailing you directly, I never even thought about that. But, I have emailed you in the past and have never recieved a reply from you(maybe I forgot the "1" as well). And, it was around a time when you were not out to sea. So, I probably wouldn't have done that anyway. But, I guess I could have email Chris Harper about the subject. Anyway, I hope this clears everything up. Bad title for the subject on my part.

No problem, Sal.
Obviously, I misunderstood the intention of your thread title.
I am sorry if I missed responding to some of your previous emails. Sometimes even I get overwhelmed. I will try to do better in the future.

I see where Karl is coming from with this situation, it would be very difficult to Police every Post made on the Classified section of this or any other Site for that matter. I also have noticed a few Venomoider’s that persist on using SHHS as their Sale’s Station, but I do think the SHHS Team have done a Good Job of patrolling the Site. Remember ya’ll, these Guys don’t get paid for what they do. They are doing this as a favor to us all. I think we should give them some the Due Credit they deserve. As for me, thanks Guys for keeping SHHS clean and on subject. ......................Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally

For the most part we hate it when anyone (people, governments, ect) try to tell us that we can not keep our snakes, but then some of us are so quick to try and tell another group they can not keep their snakes. I believe wholeheartedly in live and let live. They are not bothering you. If you do not like voids, don’t buy one or create one. That is all the protest that is necessary.

I don,t think it's a simple question of keeping or banning an animal. What's being challenged is the surgical altering or "mutilation" of an animal to better conform to the human requirements of captivety. I view venomoids the same way I view declawed cats or any other surgically atered animal and if it's too inconvenient to keep an animal unaltered, in my opinion you have no buisness keeping it. Now far be it for me to tell you what to allow on your website, but I believe the general consensus here is that practice of severing the venom glands or "venomoiding" snakes is frowned upon and perhaps better left off the site. After all this IS a "venomous" site and I believe venomoids would no longer qualify as being "venomous" and therefor not a suitable subject. But then again, what do I know?

Chuck: you seem to have missed the purpose of my post. My post had nothing to do with the keeping or banning of venomoids. The photo chosen to be used was of the person placing the add "free-handling" a Rhino Viper. I never got into the usual bashing of venomoids. Do you feel that "free-handling" venomous reptiles, whether hot or altered is a "live and let live" situation? I see it as something that can hurt our hobby!
