what would be the best way to get rid of mites and parasites in wild caught snakes.I am keeping them seperate from my captive born snakes( a burm, and 2 false water cobras). The w.c. snakes are in the quarantine period.(1 S.copperhead&1grey rat)I was just wondering if there is any additional steps I can take,my c.b. animals are very healthy is there any thing I can do anything to prevent spead of parasites or other diseases of a wild caught reptile to my current animals, and also so that any wild caught snakes I decide to keep are as healthy as possible?
Thanks,
J.S.Harrison

In order to treat internal parasites effectively, you need to know how many of what type of parasites are present in the animal. This is best accomplished by having a fecal sample checked at your vet. Once the type and quantity of parasite(s) are known a treatment protocol can be established and followed. As for external parasites, I've never caught a snake that had mites or ticks on it, but you can treat the enclosure with "Provent a Mite" (a "ProProducts Company product). If you need further information, feel free to write me.
