Friends, the deadline for Public Comments to help the North Carolina Association of Reptile Keepers is midnight! You have 5 hours while waiting for the peach to drop, or whatever they drop in your state, to write a letter! No matter what state you live in, your comments are important as the laws that NCARK are trying to prevent will make it to your state in the near future, if they have not allready.
I had been putting off writing a leter for several days, but just finished writing one and EMailing it in.
I hope others here will do the same. Take a few minutes and help out now. We have strength in numbers.
If you are not familiar with the issue, go to the NCARK website at http://ncark.org/ and give it a read, then write your letter! There is less than 5 hours left in 2006 for you to make a difference!

Last Chance for Public Comment... Please Act Now!!!
The deadline for Public Comment on the Zoo Study is today 12/31/06. If you haven't made your opinions known please do so immediately!! Many Animal Rights Activists are sending in their comments.
Here are some key points you may want to mention:
- This study was supposed to address the issue of irresponsible people with "backyard tigers". Instead it has been hi-jacked by the API and turned into an Animal Rights bill that would turn responsible and qualified Reptile owners into outlaws.
- There is absolutely no evidence to support that responsible keepers and their animals pose any threat to public health or safety.
- A ban on Reptiles would destroy the livelyhood of thousands of NC citizens.
- A concensus of NC reptile professionals, academics, state agency people, breeders and hobbyists (including the NC Zoo Curator of Reptiles) all oppose a ban.

Thanks John, your letter did help a lot. My English and my composition are really poor so if it wasn't for your letter I wouldn't have sent any comment at all. I get pretty embarrassed that I cannot express myself as I would like to. I didn't copy yours but I did use it to write mine.
I'm not sure if it will do any good since I'm not from NC though.

Petra, Thanks for helping! Every letter recieved makes a difference, no matter where you live. Many of the radical animal rights folks who are writing do not live in North Carolina also. Good to hear that my letter helped you though. I wish I had posted it earlier, and I wish that many others had posted examples of their letters. Sometimes, it is a lot easier to write a letter of support if you have an example to follow. I was sort of hoping I could see others letters to give me ideas also. But with the clock ticking, I had to create one without the help.
Thanks to everyone else who took the time to help out to write support letters on this good cause. Let us keep our fingers crossed that the Legislature of North Carolina are the kind of folks who believe in Individual Rights, and who are smart enough to not fall for the propaganda campaign that is being launched against exotic animals.

Thanks to everyone who made a comment. The committee was flooded with herp comments. NCARK has become a powerful force. The help was greatly appreciated.
