We were cruising down an old dirt road and as I drive I always look down the side roads to see if I can see anything. When I passed this one side road I saw something laying in the road. I turned around and came back and it was gone. We immediatly jumped out and looked for a snake track. Sure enough we found the track and at the end of it in the ditch was a 25 inch long eastern diamondback rattlesnake.

Kyle, good to hear that you found an EDB.
Since you live near the area of the Okefenokee fires, what is your accessment of the long term fire damage to the areas below Waycross ?
Best Regards JohnZ

I've checked out the areas where the fire was and It has done some pretty bad damage to some of the best herping areas. Some areas were not even touched, but since the fire I have found nothing in the Swamp Road area and usually I may find 10 or more snakes a night just road cruising and even more than that when I get out and walk around. Its still a little smokey in the area so that probably will affect the snakes until its gone. We havnt had no rain at all and we really need it. So I have been herping in the sandhill areas of Pierce and Bacon county.
