I don't live in VA but as far as I know there are not any law's saying you can't have venomous reptiles, however the southern copperhead Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix is protected and the canebrake rattlesnake Crotalus horridus atricaudatus is protected but the more widly distributed timber rattler Crotalus horridus horridus is not last I time I checked. I would call VA state wildlife and find out before I aquired any vens and also check in your city and county for local laws
