I will also throw in my .02. I've been using neodeshas for decades and never had a problem AS LONG AS THEY were properly maintained. They are still the best cages on the market (or were) and it's great to hear they may be coming back. Timing isn't great with today's economy and when the cages made a come back a few years ago, they quickly went belly up due to poor marketing - many of today's younger herpers don't even know what a "neodesha cage" is! If they want to do it right, I would concentrate on the slant front cages that made them famous - still the best cages and can be used for many applicatios as Doug mentioned (and Doug, if you are hording brand new 24" inchers feel free to sell a few my way!:-)
When the neodesha cage made a come back a few years ago I bought some 32" x 18" x 18" stackable cages. They were super nice with the exception of on major problem. Though stackable and well designed light shrouds where you can change a light bulb at any level w/out taking cages down, the heat generated by the bulbs caused the plastic to crack around the rim of the shroud. Obviously, that will have to be corrected.
If the price is right, I sure as heck will be a customer!

Jamie, I had some stands but they sucked and were flimsy. I just threw them away when I moved back in November. They would hold three 24" cages and slanted back at a angle. For me the stand was worthless.
Rob, I guess those guys actually made some cages then a few years back? I guess marketing was poor because they did not even let me know so I could buy some.

Paul, the plastic rack you mentioned is indeed not very good. When Bush Herpetological tookover making the cages for a few years, they started offering metal racks that were quite nice, but expensive.
Bush was not able to make a go of it, and eventually went out of business.
Hopefully, the new folks will do a better job.

poke around the website and see the metal racks we use for the neos. They roll on casters. While not overly aesthetic, they are quite functional.

I think all the uber legislation of reptiles (particularly venomous) throughout the country, is going to have a negative effect on their reemergence. But good luck nonetheless.Personaly, I was never too fond of the look of neodeshas,(too impersonal & lab-like) & the ones I used were extremely hard to open. Maybe they were old or something.

When old Neodeshas are hard to open, it is usually because the upper Channel that the glass slides in has becomed warped.
Over the years, they experimented with 4 different types of glass channel, including thin plastic, nylon, and aluminum. The thin plastic ones are the oldest and most easily to warp design. The thick nylon worked much better and usually did not warp over time. And the alumimum channel did not warp, but was mostly used on the larger cages.
Hopefully, the new folks making these cages are awair of that, and will do something to improve the top part of the cage to make it stronger. And hopefully, they will use the thicker, more sturdy channel material.
Also, if you still have some of the original Noedeshes that have tight fitting glass, you can go to a glass store, and have a piece of double stringth window glass cut, and have the edges polished. It will slide just fine in those old cages, because it is 2/3 the thickness of the original glass. But, it will not be tempered, and it will not have the locking holes drilled in it. Still, it is a inexpensive way to get a few more years use out of a older cage that still has a good cage body.
Best Regards

This is great news!! I have two of the smaller ones, i think they are 24", but I love them. No place for the little buzzer to hide. I picked mine up used, and the lip on the top is cracked, but it still serves the purpose.

I bought a couple Neos from Brian Sharp about a year ago. They were definitely older, but well taken care of. I used Ultratherm heat pads with them, and noticed that the plastic yellowed slightly where it came into contact with the heat pad.
I'd buy some if they came back, for sure!
