hey, hows it going?its been a while since i have visited this website, but your rhino viper must have had the same thing mine did. it started with an eastern gaboon i had. i noticed that it was acting weird, moving real jerky, and draining from the mouth and nose, the next day she was on her back dead. i disenfected everything the snake came in contact with and held my breath hopeing all was well with my other snakes. about a month or so later i noticed my rhino acting the same way, so i got on the phone trying to find a vet that would see her, but no one would.i tried to get them to perscribe me batriyl, but they wouldnt do that without seeing the snake, so i was in a catch 22. no vet would see a venomous snake, and wouldnt perscribe me medication without an exame.i knew it was only a matter of hours until my snake was dead so i went to "tractor supply"and bought "pen-aqueous antibiotic (injectable). i injected 1/2 cc and crossed my fingers. to my surprise she was alive in the morning.i followed with another 1/2 cc every 3 day for a total of 3 injections. it has been about 6 weeks now since she got sick, and she ate for the first time today. so it looks like the treatment worked, it might not have been the ideal course of treatment, but my snake is alive and returning to normal. i still am not sure what she had, sounds exactly like what you described, but it is certain death without treatment, and i mean quick.
