Exotic animals have no place in people’s homes
After a “pet” chimpanzee blinded and severely maimed a Connecticut woman in February, that state’s legislature expanded its restrictions on ownership of wild animals. Primate ownership will be banned, along with ownership of big wild cats, certain snakes and other animals that belong in the wild, zoos or settings other than homes.

In July the state will conduct a one-day event during which owners of exotic animals may turn them over to the state Department of Environmental Protection without penalty. The state agency then will place the animals in more appropriate settings around the country.
Pennsylvania should follow Connecticut’s lead without waiting for a similar tragedy to spur legislative action. There is no way, for example, that a full-grown alligator should be living in a central Philadelphia row house, but animal control officers found one there last week.
The issue isn’t about property rights or self-expression, it’s about public safety. The Legislature should ban exotic pet ownership and mandate better regulation of entities that trade in them, for the benefit of the animals and humans.

That falls squarely in the mode of "If you don't like exotics, don't own one". Personally, I think they need to change the shape of electrical outlets so that a knife doesn't fit so darned perfect into them! Damn things get me every time! I realize that not everyone does this on a daily basis, but we need to ban these electrical marvels that beckon us like a siren into its trap. The masses need protected!!!!!
Sorry just ranting.
You can't fix stupid.

Cattle and horses never get bad press but kill many people each year.Dogs do get some bad press and they do kill.Is there any case of someones snake killing someone else. Its not that it is dangerous it is that it is not understood. We are easy media targets.

There is one thing that I agree with here. Adult alligators probably don't belong in Pennsylvania row houses. Responsible ownership starts with proper housing. It is possible that that particualr owner had proper housing and had converted half of his house into a secure southern swamp for his alligator, but it is highly unlikely.
Yes we are an easy target. People dispise the animals we love. Knowing that we have to be 100% more diligent in our actions.

Just one more reason to keep a tight line on your pets and have the proper housing for them. No one should have a full grown Gator in their home, I think most would agree. Every time there is a incident, we all pay with bad press. Most people believe we are insane anyway, don't give them more ammunition to use against us.
