I also believe one big organization, like USARK, dedicated to fighting for our rights to keep exotic animals is the key. I mean just look at the NRA and how powerful they are. If we can all unite and expand USARK we may have some hope. Until that day, it's not looking very good.

One thing with the NRA is that Gun Manufactures give them a lot of money, this would be like reptile Breeders, dealers and petshops giving them huge amounts of money and that kind of money is not given to USARK on the same scale as Gun Manufactures. From what I hear some, many are lucky to break even at reptile shows these days.
Maybe Petsmart, PetCo and places like that could but I'm not sure if they would or do.

Jahon,
While it is true that a strong national organization like USARK could be a very powerful force in fighting restrictive animal legislation, it is strongly handicapped by the very nature of reptile / exotic animal keepers.
Although there is some overlap, the hobby tends to be divided into turtle folks, lizard folks, harmless snake folks, big constrictor folks, venomous snake folks, amphibian folks, etc.
And if legislation is introduced that would outlaw say large constrictors, you will not see very many of the folks from the other reptile / amphibian groups pitching in to help fight that legislation, as they do not keep large constrictors, and thus do not think it will effect them. The only exception is the Venomous community, who seem to know that they will be attacked next, so they do make some effort to fight things like laws against constrictors.
But, the problem is that even the folks inside the large constrictor community can not get their act together and work as a team. They have outspoken folks who go onto forums and post against suppporting USARK, over minor disagreements of how USARK is going about fighting the legislation. Because of the lies these people spread, USARK looses support, as they do not have a united community behind them.
The reptile community is its own worst enemy. They are not capable of uniting unless all parts of the hobby are threatened at once. And the enemy knows that.
They will go after the large constrictors, and the importers, and then the venomous community, and, little by little, they will accomplish their goals.
Best Regards
John Z
