John
Can you explain why it is just a few from the venomous section that have stated feeling ill during or after?
looks to me like IF it was the AC/Heat then it would be more than those folks.
I personally think that it is from getting it so warm inside at night and then the vendors coming in early next morning and leaving those back doors open.
I know Monica is feeling sick but we have had some flu problems with the family. I was actually sick a week or so BEFORE the show.
The team from Florida had gotten sick after the show in November 2008 but not this time.

Cathy, how do you know it was just folks in the venomous section?
Have you sent a Email to vendors in the other sections who would not read these venomous forums and post ?
I think that would tell you if the problem was more wide spread.
So far we are talking about at least 20 people from the venomous section who became very sick, and quite a few others who had some problems, but not as severe.
Just letting the building build up heat during the night, then letting folks in, in the cool morning does not cause people to be coughing up mucus for 4 days. Also, some folks got so sick on Saturday night, that they could not return on Sunday.
All seem to have the same severe symptoms, which would tend to eliminate folks catching something from the public who visited the show.
Hopefully, we can get some agency to actually test the place. That will tell us if there are dangerous mold toxins in the air, or not.
Best Regards

yep you were sick before the show... but also a friend that was vending came in sick too so who knows where I got it. It would be in EVERYONES intrest NOT to tick off the good people at the jamil temple. Hope this is not because a certain person is not allowed back in the venue.

Jason, this is about a number of people who became very sick, all with the same Respiratory / Bronchial infection symptoms following, or during the show. It is not likely that all of those folks caught the exact same thing from a "Typhoid Mary" who was at the show. It is more likely, that they were all exposed to the same problem in the building.
It has nothing to do with a certain person who is not allowed back in the venue. That persons actions were his own doing, and will hopefully teach him a lesson.
The fact is, the Shriners rent out the building, and they have a obligation to make sure that building is safe. If they have a toxic mold problem that is making people sick when they turn on the AC after it has been not used for a long time, they need to fix it. If they have toxic mold growing on the ceilings, or, in the AC condensers, that needs to be addressed. If the building has safety problems, it is also endangering the Shriners who use it, and who work at the various shows there in the food court.
I have talked with the fellow who is holding the gun show at that location this weekend. He is going to let me know if his vendors become sick the same way.
It will be fairly simple for a government agency to send out someone who will test the air in the building for dangerous levels of toxic mold spores. That way we will have a clear answer if that is what made folks sick, and if that is the case, the Shriners can fix the problem.
The biggest problem so far, is finding anyone in the government who has the authority to test something like that. The SC Health Department does not have the authority, even though they seem to care. I will know soon if the OSHA folks they referred me to will take a interest. Hopefully, they will go out and run some simple tests, and suggest ways to fix the problem. It might be as simple as washing the ceilings with a Clorox solution from a pressure washer, and repairing roof leaks.
Best Regards

For what it's worth, I showed similar symptoms and I'm still sick but I think I'm over the worst of it (my head still feels like it's gonna pop though). I was there both days from opening to close, and walked around constantly, between venomous and non.... If I had to pick a spot I was in the most I'd have to say the non-venomous because two of my friends were vendors in the non-ven section. I know alteast one of them is sick as well....

Chuck,
Thanks for the reply. I hope you and everyone else who got sick following the show get feeling better soon.
What is amazing, is that although a lot of us got sick following the show, is that there are folks out there who are accusing me having a vendetta against Repticon and the Shriners.
If that were the case, I would not spend money renting tables and attending the shows year after year.
For several years now, folks have gotten sick following the shows in that building. And this year, it was a lot more folks involved.
I do not like getting sick, and I do not like to see my friends get sick following a show.
That is why I am trying to find a government agency who can test the air in that building. Many people saw and smelled the mold growing on the ceiling, so that is a strong suspect as to what might have made folks sick.
Best Regards

Who wants to go to a reptile show , or any other function where saftey is a concern ? And then people want to bash the one person that is looking out for the best interest of others ? The Elrods / Repticon Staff need to show a little more concern for whats going on here . The reptile community are the people who put the food on your table , be greatful that people are willing to drive over 300 + miles just to make it to your event , if i'm gonna spend the $250 that it takes for me to get there and back , plus 38 dollars it takes to get me and my family in the door , i believe the only thing i'm gonna have to worry about is how mad my wife is gonna be over how quick i empty my wallet ... Not whether or not we are gonna get sick . My wife and kids have asthma , and something like this would be a big problem . The Internet and Delta Dash are looking much better than going to another show at the temple . Try Greenville again. If my remarks here in any way get me banned from attending any further shows , than good ridence , you don't deserve the business anyway . Take care of us and we'll take care of you .
Best to everyone ,
Stacy Adams

Those upset with Cro are upset not because he and others are sick/ill, it is the fact the way that he and others went about it. Posting on a open forum INSTEAD of contacting the people in charge, along with the name calling.
TO DATE...NO ONE HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH REPTICON OR THE TEMPLE WITH THEIR CONCERNS!!!!!!!
I will say that Repticon and the Temple is looking into a POSSIBLE cause.
I will be posting the outcome when the time comes and will have a statement for those who have posted on their condition.

Does the public not have the right to be informed on an open forum ? How else are we going to find out if we were at risk , cause yall don't get the name and number of every person that comes through those doors .Not trying to push buttons , but why would this need to be kept low key , and John has a done a great job of letting yours and the Temples customers know about the situation . Why is it that you can chase down a person on this site because of a table they reserved , yet you feel we have to contact you about a problem like this ? Yall have got a truely amazing thing going on , it's your baby ... take care of it .
