Enjoying a wonderful stay in North Carolina as we drove our precious Bennett's Wallaby ("Digi") to the Natural Science Center in Greenboro, NC to his new permanent home where he will have more space and another wallaby friend to hang out with - perfect home. While there, they showed true southern hospitalitiy by giving my family and I a 4-hour tour including behind the scenes. Rick Bolling is the herp curator and I was really pleasantly surprised by their reptile collection and exhibits...nice mix of native and exotics including one of the biggest male green anacondas I have seen. If anyone is driving by that area, or visiting, I would highly recommend a trip to this wonderful living museum. They also have a variety of mammals and birds along with a very cool science museum. Unlike some of the larger zoos where you feel a sense of disconnection (not all!), this zoo allows you to get very close to the animals but still feel safe. Very well done and the staff are top knotch. The admission fee is an absolute steal.
And next week will be my drive to Texas...putting a lot of miles on my car but having a great time.

Hey Rob - glad you got a chance to visit my home state and the Natural Science Center, which is the perfect combination of a zoo and natural history museum. The snakes are all choice specimens and very well-displayed. They also make some very creative use of recycled materials in their enclosures. Great place to see.

I'm ready to move there! It's really a beautiful state and has a great vibe to it. If not there, I'm heading to Texas!

Don't blame you Rob.
Both North Carolina and Texas are excellent places to live.

I am not sure about Texas, As I have never been there. But I can say NC is a great place to live. Its 2 hours to the mountains and its 3 or so to the coast.
