Another tactic that MIGHT help is if we could begin drawing derisive comparisons between the 'python scare' in Florida and the old urban legend about giant alligators thriving in the NYC sewer system. OK, so there really are pythons in the Everglades, but still, the actual threat they pose has been blown all out of proportion by mass hysteria - that's the point. When I visited a local gun store recently, there was a lady who obviously had zero experience w/ firearms purchasing a Ruger revolver. She told the clerk she was moving to Florida and needed something to shoot pythons with.... no s--t. I'd be much more concerned about running into the likes of her than any sort of critter.

Please note, REXANO is NOT organizing it, we are just helping to spread the word and are hosting the flyer on REXANO website.
Actually, if it was all species/breeds animal march (anti exotic bans, anti mandatory spay neuter, etc,..), turn out might be better.

pictigaster, I agree, these animal bans are infringements on our property rights.
Gov can do laws if it is for public safety, however, in this case, there is no 'python killing humans' real threat scenario, just scear tactics,...but public is led to believe the threat to their lives is real, that is why gov might get away with this crap:(

Thanks for the clarification, Z. That's very different - a combined event w/ herpers participating sounds more feasible.

I understand all the questions, concerns, as well as Ideas!
First off this shouldn't be just a herp related battle! Everyone that is involved in exotic pets know that the python ban is just the start of legislations that will soon equal that of HR669, HSUS will not stop at just the pythons, boas, and andy's.
We are an organized bunch that need your participation, we have an understanding of HSUS or AR groups rallying against us in washington and things of that nature but we are prepared for such.
Z, I believe the only way to really clear this up is to link the PDF i sent you so that others understand the concept.
We need thousands of people to participate and are taking into account the keepers limitations, hence the simultaneous state capitol marches.
Should you have any questions feel free to email me at anytime jdaniel@herpterra.net.
Thank you for all of your questions and concerns I hope to see you all involved in protecting your rights, It is time to quit making excuses and stand up to do something whether you own one of the 9 or not.

Archie when I read your post I couldn't help but draw mental comparisons between your argument and those for legalizing pot. The argument for personal property rights, personal use rights, ability to make a profit, etc etc etc is completely analogous. Of course, the major difference is that pot has been illegal for a long time because of the tobacco lobby.
So, if you think the government couldn't successfully ban people's ability to do something inherently dangerous, like keeping giant constrictors or venomous snakes, then they not only can but they have the precedent to do it.
Alas, like everyone is saying, we're getting riled up too little, too late.

Oh Chance I know they can and will.I do not like it but we all know its comeing.I sure will not argue with you over any of it.I myself can give you sound reason why they should,Then next we out law bikes then cars that have red wheels, homosexuality ,heterosexuality asexuality, gay marriage ,non gay marriage, abortion, free thinking freedom of speech ,.You know how I feel about what I think is a right.Well I can also see this as a privilge abused by too many we shall all suffer for.I am not as mad as I am sad to see it come to this.If you want to marry a man do it if you want to own a snake do it if you want to jump off a airplane do it .Just do these things in a way you do not harm other humans around you. This is not the case in some people.People loose saw scale vipers in the house or apartment put dangerious videos on u tube sell cobras to minors,or let there boa eat the guy next doors poodle .We are not perfect .On the other hand some of us educate our children ,remove dangerious snakes from back yards and are permitted by our state. It has come down to a loose loose ,it is what it is ..We are easy targets.
