Television networks aren't for or against anything except ratings and audience [i.e. $$$]. Their programming reflects what sells and that's about it.

Fred, I could make a case in point. Take CNN and Fox networks, it's very obvious their political affiliations. That's taking a stance on something.

Lets get down to the nitty gritty Joe...
Corwin? A Herpetologist?....A joke.
Yes, he supports the Python restriction, and this is one of the reasons that makes me dislike him even more. Not to meantion the fact that he's been in and out of hospital more times then you may shake a stick at! - Through stupidity? I'd guess so...

If you've watched the show you would know that the people in question were reckless, and ilequipped to be housing and handling these venomous reptiles. The woman was bitten by a snake she owned illegally, and there was no antidote available to cure the venom. If she recieved poor care she wouldn't have lived as long as she did under their watchful eye. At no point do they imply owning reptiles, even venomous ones, is a bad thing. They only suggest that you should be properly trained, and capable to tend to them. Not only is extremely dangerous to allow venomous reptiles to roam free in you home, but extremely unsanitary!
There is a reason we have laws reguarding which animals are legal, and which are not. There is a reason we have to obtain permits for certain breeds of animals and reptiles.
