Thanks for the info. How serious a problem will it be if they do not remove it? Does anyone know who I could ask at the Phoenix Herp Society about how they are treating this snake? I was wondering what the humdity and housing was like for this snake. It is mighty dry out here most of the time and I wonder if this is an ongoing problem since it is a tropical species.
Thanks to all,
Kelly

I would look at why the snake is having ecdysis problems as much as I would be trying to be reactive.

I use the burlap bag trick often. I have an old copperhead that won't shed at all. Just soaks and then lets it dry. Whenever she needs to shed, it's in the soaking bin, and in the burlap bag. Works every time. Take care, Marty

Re tape: a very experienced lady hotkeeper relayed a story once about a keeper that used duct tape inside an enclosure. The snake got stuck to it and the eyecap -not a shed eyecap but the actual eye cover- was ripped out.
I don't have the best vision in the world and sometimes on small snakes its hard to tell if an unshed eyecap is even there or not.
I'll stick to the wet bag, it works for me. I guess I should have mentioned that I don't soak the bag sopping wet all over, there is still air flow available and I put crumpled pieces of newspaper in with the snake to keep the bag kind of 'poofed out'
the snake crawls around inside the bag trying to escape and rubs off any excess shed or eyecaps.

Duct tape makes sense. I use scotch tape for eye caps when safe to do so.

I had to soak my contortrix the other week and she went nuts when she hit the water. I mean struck at anything and everything she could. Things got sketchy....
