i have recently been told that snakes find comfort under the footings of houses, and what are some other suggestions on places to find snakes in the winter time?

Snakes (depending on species) will hibernate in various places in winter. Warning though, I would not recommend capture in winter as it causes the animal way to much stress and if it is brought back up to temps it may have problems feeding amongst other things. They go where they may get heat, plywood, tin, under houses barns and den sites (Crotalids). I heavily advise against hunting den sites as well, it just not kosher. Hope it helps,
