getting bit

First of all if you know the animal is venomous . you would knwo what the circumstances would be so it is your own fault DO NOT BLAME THE ANIMAL IN THIS CASE EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED.

Funny....

Thats a higher amount than I was planning to see on ridding the animal in one way or the other...
Killing the snake on your fault (Keeping the creature in the first place) Is totally sickening...
Heres a question to think about: Would you stop driving, if you were still able to drive, After you got into a car wreck?

To the best of my knowlwdge,
|
the big C. adamanteus that nearly killed me back in the early '60s lived on to a ripe, old age. Neither I nor the two friends with me had any desire for futil revenge.

As hobbist,or pro's we all take a major risk with venomous snakes. That is a risk that has to be considered. If you feel that you are willing to take the risk. Then why take your mistake out on the animal.
Weight out the risk be for hand.
Remember that it is NEVER the animals fault
it is the caretakers.

absolutely

if I get hit, it's my fault NOT the animal's.
I faced this a few years ago and almost became VERY righthanded. I thought about it very briefly and figured as long as I could still care for the animals safely and effectively, then I would keep going.

Amputation

Was facing just that back in May, the Cantil stays. I made the error, no reason to blame the snake.

This question

won't let me vote! It says I have already voted although I have not. Oh well.
The truth is that many different things come into play after a venomous bite. I would like to say that I would keep the snake BUT I know for sure that others here that I know would have said the same thing before their bite. Things have a way of getting out of hand. As far as I am concerned, I would keep the snake. That doesn't mean that the Police Department, County Sherrif's Office, City Council, Child Services, Fish and Game Department, etcetera wouldn't like to have their say too. Once the fact that you are keeping venomous snakes gets beyond your front door, you become subject to all sorts of pressure regardless of how careful and legal you are. Add in the fact that you, who presumably know what you are doing, have been bitten and that tends to scare the community. And they, as an unenlightened mob, can tend to be pretty unreasonable.
Just one of the things that crosses my mind every time I enter my snake room.

I would keep it. If you get bit, no matter what it IS your fault

My two cents...
|
Unless the bite left me physically unable to care for the snake I would keep it. No reason to punish the animal for my mistake.

Steve, Mark and Jeff.

I love them all, me.
Steve's just insane which is cool. He's always taking risks and you can really tell that he loves and really cares about his work and animals.
He's a top bloke and you just can't help admiring him, even if it is just for his guts!
I love Mark. He absolutely cracks me up. His shows are so informative and he knows exactly what he's talking about.
I love the way he's so professional yet so unorthodox at the same time eg falling in creeks, going under trees, he's so funny.
No-one like him.
Jeff is so cool. His sense of humour is fab and he's professional as well.
His sense of humour is brilliant, like his impressions. Classic.
I only watch Steve, Mark and Jeff.
I love them all in different ways.

Non Keeper
|
Well i do not keep snakes, therefore i cant really comment, but presumably, after reading a lot of comments in here by the more responsible guys, i would presume that it would be considered a mistake by the keeper or sheer bad luck.
So why blame the snake and kill it, possibly organise someone else to take it if the confidence has taken a beating but end there.
Anyway thats my thoughts..

Why don't?
|
If a hot herp bites me, I'm sure that's my fault, it's only guided by its natural instinct. Why stop keeping?.
When you get a venomous reptile, you must to assume the risk, it's so simple.

depends on the animal
|
well if it was wild caught I'd probly let it go, but if I had it for a wile, I'd keep it.
this is also dependent on the amount of injury sustained...
way too vague...

from what i understand about hots, they all have diff levels of toxicity from snake to snake, and people react differently from person to person, so it really comes down to when and if...
