In the News Section below, we see that someone named Michael in Indiana was bitten by a Green Mamba, and was later arrested for having 15 illegal snakes. Among the illegal snakes were 3 Cobras and 2 Mambas.
If I remember correctly, Rabbit`s name is Michael.
If I remember correctly, Rabbit lives in Indiana.
If I remember correctly, Rabbit had two Green Mambas he liked to work with mini-hooks.
If I remember correctly, Rabbit had at least a Forest Cobra, an Indian Cobra, and probably a Red Spitting Cobra.
If I remember correctly, folks here told Rabbit to get rid of the dangerous snakes before he got himself or someone else bitten.
Could just be pure co-incidence, but the similarity of the name, state of residence, and snakes being kept sure makes me wonder.

He's changed his profile, but I remember it said Indiana also.
Also note the list of spiecies someone copied from his profile in this thread:
http://www.venomousreptiles.org/forums/Experts/25634
Then note the species they happen to mention in the "snake facts" box to the left of the article (even though some are not mentioned in the article):

I believe in coincidences, but not that many...

Boy do I feel an "I told you so" coming on. Ok, it has subsided.
Regardless of if it is one in the same I hope them a speedy recovery, their animals new homes and health and that a very valuble lesson was learned in the process. Dont keep venomous snakes where it is illegal and dont keep venomous snakes you are not prepared to deal with!
God speed Michael from Indiana.

Perhaps it was him. I am sure we will hear about it if it was.
I do know that he has posted on this site since the bite was reported.
In this article: http://www.wishtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=5682276&nav=menu35_4
they talk about how malnourished and mistreated the animals are. One snake, it is reported had broken ribs.
Regardless of what anyone is keeping, they have to feed it appropriate food items often enough that it doesn't dwindle away and die. If they cannot manage the minimum husbandry concerns (like feeding the animals), then they shouldn't be keeping the animals in the first place. Care sheets will tell you what an animal prefers to eat but if you don't know the answer to that basic concern before you get the animal, then you are way behind in its care already.
However it works out, keeping illegal venomous animals has a way of catching up to people. I hope that he survives this bite with no permanent damage and that he learns from it (whoever he is).

Let's see, all you need is Frawg and... who else?, and you will have a quorum of bullies. I have already found out that it doesn't matter what I say or don't say, you guys charge me, try me and convict me of whatever you want in your witch hunts. Should I float like a feather on the water like a witch and live, or drown like an innocent soul when you tie the rock to me and throw me in the pond?

Ummm...Ok... Are you saying it wasn't you?
Assuming for the moments that it was, I'll say two things in your defense.
1) Other than the canebrake (which could be an old injury as far as we know), all the animals looked reasonably healthy and I have no idea what they were talking about when they said they were the worst they'd seen. Any given pet shop probably has a few in much worse shape. We've gotten confiscations that looked like they'd been through a paper shredder.
2) Other than the forest cobra and maybe the pak all the snakes they showed on the news were small enough that your two mini hooks were probably appropriate or at least workable. If you'd mentioned that all your snakes were so small, you probably wouldn't have gotten quite so much flak here for not having the right equipment.
On the other hand, seeing how small the others are just reinforces my feeling that the forest was WAY out of your league, and getting your snakes confiscated will likely save your life...
Was there something else you object to?

Bullies? Michael, I dont think so.
I just posted an observation about someone in Indiana who has the same name as you, and happens to keep the exact same snakes as you, who was bitten by a mamba.
It was not long ago that you posted about how dangerous the mambas were. I think you said something like they bite metal.
I was just curious if it might have been you that was bitten.
I do not like hearing of anyone getting bitten by a venomous snake, especially someone who has posted here.
Two other folks who responded offered wishes for a speedy recovery to the person who was bitten.
So far no one here has charged you, tried you, or convicted you as far as I can see.
I note that you have not said wether it was you who bitten or not.
If it was I hope you recover without any ill effects.
If it was someone else in your state who shares your name, and keeps the exact same snakes as you do, then I wish them a speedy recovery.
Perhaps the person who was bitten will share the story here to help educate folks, so they do not make the same mistakes that he did.
Best Regards JohnZ

Mike: I know it seems that some of us are being a## holes on here from time to time but remember, to some of us that is, we are a Family and hate hearing of anyone in our Community doing things to put their selves and others in Danger “yes, that includes Keeping Venomous Snakes Illegally”. Now, I am by no means saying that you are Keeping Snakes against Standing Laws, but, I am saying that you should cut the guys on this Site a little slack. I mean, we do try and help people that need the help and would never recommend anyone to Keep any Illegal Snakes.
PS: Let me give you some of my own advise, that has saved me from making some mistakes. Always proof read everything you write on here, before you send it. This will cut down on the possibility of someone making something out of a Literary Mistake. Just some of my own personal habits that I thought I would share.
Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally

Mike, most here know it was you. It is only a mistake that you can correct and learn from. I live in Indiana, just off North Meridian Street, which is about 6 miles from you. I kow exactly where you live and it was your house that the snakes were taken from. No, I'm not stalking you, but just happen to live in the same area and have spoken to you several times at the old Uncle Bill's Pet Center and other forums.

If it was or wasnt you this is exactly what we were talking about. If it was you then you know first hand now the severity of being under educated and under prepared with these animals. If it was you you have lost all of your animals. You keep saying we are bullies and look what happened? The exact thing we were trying to help you avoide!!!
Even myself, one of your more harsh critics was simply trying to avoide the occurance that happened. Thats it! For you and for the snakes!! To make sure you and the snakes were safe.
Instead of coming here and completely avoideing the topic, going into some precioved poetic rant that makes absolutely zero sense why dont you explain to me and others exactly why it is you dont want to listen to us? Why? Did anyone here ever say you snhbould never have snakes? I didnt. We said you need more training. You need more experince and you need not to impulse buy at your local rep expo, shop or the internet.
I have no idea why you insit on being so stubborm twords people who are trying to help you. We were trying to educate you, somthing you have admited time and time again that you are not.
Before one gets a driver's licens in this country one most first pass drivers training cource. Sure, before they took said cource they had a good idea of what was done but through the cource you are actualy put in the car with somone there to assure saftey and assure you can handle it. Once thawt is prooven and you pass the class you can get the licens. With snakes there is no authority figure to hold your hand or and make sure you take the proper steps but the situation is the same. This is were maturity comes in. Being matuire enough top know you should get a firm handle on what your getting into before getting into it.
Please, confirm if this were you and please listen to us! We are here to help!
