Arin, your thread took a few twists and turns. Getting back to snake hooks, you need to purchase the ones you like. There are many good folks who make quality snake hooks, Midwest, Cheap Snake Hooks, Furmont, and Myself.
I only sell at Reptile Shows and not online so far. Furmont makes great hooks that have been used by zoos for 40 years, but they have only a lousey online site.
Midwest makes some great hooks, and some bad hooks, but their prices are good and you can order online.
Cheap Snake Hooks makes a lot of hooks they sell on EBay, and reptile shows, and some of their hooks are real nice.
Snake hooks come in a variety of materials and shapes and weights. You need to narrow down just what you want to use a hook fore. Then you will be better able to decide which is best for you.
There is a huge difference between a cage hook and a field hook. Same thing with tongs. So, it is hard to advise you, as we do not know what you will be using the hook for.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards JohnZ

Arin, yes the "Mark Ohea" is a great snake hook. You can't go wrong with it. It is a bit expensive, but if you can afford it, it is a very nice snake hook to own, and will do all you want to do with it.
Hope this helps.

Although 4 seems a bit young to be catching venomous snakes, a couple of weeks ago I met this amazing 5 year old who was amazing in his ability to observe things and carry on a conversation. He could talk for hours about the camaflauge that snakes use in protecting themselves. He was almost like a much older person in a midget costume, LOL.
That little booger probably could have caught a venomous snake from the wild if he had had a snake hook and a bucket to scoop the snake into and a chance to do it.
Although some 4 year olds can barly walk or say a few words, I believe that there are always going to be exceptinal individuals who just might be able to capture snakes at that age.
They have no awairness of the danger, and also have the sharp reflexes of a kid.
I can say for sure that that 5 year old would have had no problem catching a small rattlesnake or copperhead, it he ran into one, and had some tools to work with.
It is rare, but it does happen. Perhaps these young individuls are old souls, who have lived many lives in the past, and have the memories of those lifetimes to call upon. Just something to think about.........
Best Regards JohnZ
