I understand the point in closing a thread due to language , but Karl no offense , but you have gone " close " happy lately with the Jamil Temple situation . Ask them to keep it clean , but just let them air this thing out . Silencing people is not going to ressolve this problem . I myself did not attend the November show , but i did vend at the show last weekend , and made a TON of money , and made more great freinds .
I understand being a moderator / site manager comes with a few daily head aches and so forth . And you can takes this how ever you want , but instead of trying to police the site , just spectate , and once it gets to where there are actual threats being made . . . then step in . It's the internet , and most people will not give out a private e-mails . Most will say it should not be brought here , but it has alot to do with the people that visit this site several times a day and that venue 3 times a year . Therefore , there isn't a better place for this thing to be disscused in a civil manner .
You can block , delete , or ban me if you like if you in any way dissagree with my opinion on the situation . But you are a site manager , and do whatever you see fit !!!!!! But what is wrong with this post ?

This site is for folks of all levels of
experience and knowledge, to come for advice,
or to offer advice to others.
Being a site that is "watched" so to speak,
by some of those very groups who would end our
venomous-keeping rights as we know them, this is
NOT the place..
This site is for education, and is frequented
by children also..
What message does thread upon thread of
name-calling and bickering give ?
What it says to outsiders is, that we are a bunch
of unorgainzed, ignorant folk, and it only fuels
the "anti-reptile-keeper" cause..
If you feel the need to argue "soap-opera-style",
then take it to email, where it is your own
personal business..
This site is for the educational discussion
of venomous repties, not ego-trips,
power-struggles, and pointless bickering.
That is your own private business, and should
be kept as such.. If some are too lazy to take it
to email, than it must not be impotant enough
to bicker over in the first place, right..?
Do not bring it here..
Please..
Take Care,
-John Mendrola.

I understand your concerns but please believe me when I say that I am far from close happy. You can check threads on this site all the way back to 2000 and you will begin to recognize that I "spectate" much more than I ever have and I only ban people as a last resort when all other avenues of reconciliation have been explored.
I did attend last November's show at Columbia but I did not vend and I am personally interested in how all this will turn out. The subject matter and the disagreements are not the reasons that the recent threads have been ended.
You cannot denigrate people, call them names, curse at them, and then turn around and say that you are carrying on a meaningful conversation with them. The minute that you resort to name calling, it is no longer a discussion - it is an attack.
"You can block , delete , or ban me if you like if you in any way dissagree with my opinion on the situation . But you are a site manager , and do whatever you see fit !!!!!! But what is wrong with this post ?"
Just for the record, I do not delete block or ban people because they disagree with me. I do not even do that when they curse and call people names (even me) on this site - the first or second times they do that. Repeated attacks or violations get people banned. I close threads that get out of hand. I do not ban topics with two exceptions. There are two individuals who will not be discussed ont this forum because I will not allow them to come back on the site to defend themselves.
If you want to know more about the Jamil Temple situation, I would recommend that you visit the Repticon site and contact them through their contact email address. The same with the Jamil Temple Shriners. If you are not happy with the responses that you get, you can bring it up for discussion IN AN ADULT AND RESPECTFUL MANNER.
I am sorry that you feel that I am being overly sensitive about this issue. Trust me when I say that every single administrative action that I perform here is overseen in a critical manner and I get LOTS of feedback on whether or not I am being fair to all involved.
R/
Karl

I have to back Karl up on this one. In moderation of a similar forum, someone posted something atrocious. I got a four page email asking why I would allow such filth on the internet, so I deleted it. I then got a similar length email from the other party screaming "censorship!!" Half the parties on the forum screamed "delete! ban!" The other half screamed "You're wrong for deleting! You're wrong for banning!"
My feeling is that the civilized thing to do, if you have a problem with someone, is to take it privately to email, take it privately to a phone conversation, take it privately to a face to face meeting, or take it out back and punch someone in the nose, but don't clutter up the site with it.
Karl - Job well done! I'm glad it wasn't me in the middle trying to referee this time.
Chad

I have to agree with Karl here, I've been visiting this site since 2000 (under a couple of different handles) and have witnessed all of the threads in question. Some of them I questioned why he let them go as long as he did. But he has always given fair warning to people and reasons as to why a post was deleted. Good job Karl. Take care, Marty

I agree with Karl, as well. He's far from close happy. I've been a member here for 10 or so years and have had my share of heated debates and namecalling and was quite an unlevel headed pr!@k towards certain people on certain topics until I realized how I was acting.I was never banned, deleted, or had any topics closed. He's as fair as one can get. But, even after that thread here and on other forums, I was shaking my head asking WTF.
I was sick with the same EXACT symptoms the week of that show, as was half of the people I work with and half the people I know...and we are 850 miles away. Coincidence? NO. It's what happens when you get a large amount of people in an enclosed area during certain seasons and a few of them show already up sick. It's bound to happen.

exactly it was that time of year... vendors showed up sick... you KNOW attendees showed up sick... out of over 2000+ people in the building you know a good few were sick or had been sick.

obviously it's not that important ,so whatever . If people can't get along , then let the hobby burn . It's looking that way anyway with the new burm fatality . first the pythons , and then the hots . And we can't save ourselves as a community . There are not very many willing to let go of their egos long enough to work on saving the hobby . There are tons of great people in this hobby with great reputations , but most seem to have lost sight of what this hobby is about ...
I didn't see very many venomous reptile keepers at the USARK auction , and that was very depressing . How many really care what happens to the hobby as a whole and not just VR ?
