I'm interested in hearing people's opinions about what they think about selling hots on Craigslist.
In my area (Upstate SC) there is someone who continues to list exotic hots (Gaboon Viper, Monocled Cobra, Death Adder) even though his ads are being constantly removed.
Here is his latest ad:
http://greenville.craigslist.org/pet/1798687334.html
And the text of it (minus phone #), since I'm sure it will be removed again:
CALL ME FOR YOUR DEADLY SNAKES. I CAN GET ANYTHING AND I WILL CAUSE NOBODY CAN STOP ME. I HAVE ALREADY SOLD OVER A HUNDRED HOT SNAKES IN GREENVILLE ALONE. IT WILL BE THOUSANDS BEFORE I QUIT. I LOVE S.C. KILL'EM ALL SORT EM OUT LATER. CALL 864-***-**** Thanks, Dennis PS PERSON WANTING DEATH ADDER I FOUND ONE.
Does anyone else find this ad in particular abrasive?
Maybe irresponsible?
Opinions?

I went to the link to tag this guy for removal but someone beat me to it :P
I don't think abbrasive or irresponsible even begin to describe this guy. What's with the 'kill em all' statement?
I don't think Craigslist is an appropriate forum for selling hots. Does anyone disagree?
It's too open for anyone with no konwledge of what they're doing to stumble upon something that could kill them. At least on a site like here or Kingsnake, you know what you're getting yourself into simply by clicking on the 'Venomous classifieds' link.

I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with someone advertising them anywhere he wanted to as long as he was being responsible about screen potential buyers.
On the other hand, this reads a lot like a 12 year old stirring up trouble, or a plant trying to make bad press for us. JMO.

Craigslist isn't appropriate for selling ANY animals, it's against their TOS.
The way this guy words his ads sound like "I'm gonna sell my rattlesnake and you can't stop me!!! [insert raspberry sounds]".

His newest ad:
http://greenville.craigslist.org/pet/1799770057.html
And the text for after if gets removed:
Most flagged snake on CL.Buy a HOT SNAKE today. Don't be a pantie waist or little sissy own a MAN'S SNAKE. Buy a Gaboon, Cobra, Death Adder or Momba. Stand out in the crowd. Walk too YOUR OWN BEAT. DON'T LET FLAGGERS deter you. They can't stop me and they can't stop you. I CAN HELP. FOR YOUR HOT and DEADLY REPTILES PLEASE CALL ME. It is my feelings that you should be able too own any reptile you wish and the state of s.c. makes that quite possible. IF YOU ARE 18 and dumb as a rock you can own a snake that can kill dozens with one bite. Thats how I got mine, dumb as a rock BUT BUT I am making money hand over fist. THESE SELL BETTER THAN CRACK. Also will kill you quicker and with less stress on your family. SO if your a dope head and a burden too your loved ones save that crack money and buy a HOT snake from me. MAYBE you'll see the light and get off dope.LOL. At least you might ease that burden on your family. THINK ABOUT IT!!!!! 864-***-**** Thanks again flagger you helped me stay at the top. Dennis

I dunno weither he is serious about selling or if he is just enjoying the attention due to many people on craigslist flag snake adds like crazy. so he could just be trying to get under peoples skin.

Someone needs to call and get the name and address of the person, and then post it here.
When Venomous Snakes are outlawed by Federal Law, and in all States, it will be because of nit-wits like that. If we know who he is, and where he lives, we can go by and think him for his efforts in getting venomous snakes banned in S.C.
Just like we should go by and thank the nit-wit in Florida whose illegal Burmese python "killed" the two year old, and helped Florida pass more restrictive large constrictor laws.
Would not surprise me if the clown on Craig's List has a table, and is vending at a certain S.C. show this very weekend, as the folks who run that show will rent tables to all sorts of low-life folks.
Hey, someone call a news crew, and send in a under cover camera and a 12 year old with some cash, and see if you can buy a death adder or Gaboon viper from the fellow.
I bet you can . . . . .
Best Regards
John Z

He has other ads on craigslist for vision cages, aquariums, and carpet pythons. So, unfortunately, I think he's for real...
John, I don't feel comfortable posting his phone# but it might be listed in some of his other ads...
http://greenville.craigslist.org/pet/1799775258.html
This one's a real winner:
http://greenville.craigslist.org/pet/1750226280.html
I brought this here hoping that some of the veterans might talk to the guy. I can't imagine that (based on the tone of his posts on CL and my inexperience w/ hots) he would care in the least what I have to say.

I think it’s very sheepish not to print the phone number. If it was part of the ad, you’re being weirdly cautious about it and I don’t get it. This guy is trying to change the law in South Carolina. Sounds like a PETA warrior to me, using this as a platform to stir the pot. They could easily sell a few cages and supplies to hide in public. You have to know they are coming after the lack of oversight in South Carolina, and everywhere else. They will not stop, and if they have to deliberately release a few venomous snakes to get publicity, work undercover in a reptile dealer, or anything else, they have and will do these things again and again until they win. This isn’t some kook, it is a deliberate strategy.
