That statement is only in there for liability issues, they have to write that in case a pair of the gloves are faulty. They also post videos of king cobras chewing on the gloves without puncturing them and post pictures of professionals holding hots with only the gloves. I have tested them personally, my monocle cannot bite through them. It is not the same as free handling, I would not pick up ANY hot snake EVER with only my bare hands.
Additionally, no instrument is going to guarantee your safety or be 100% bite proof. Are you saying no one ever gets bit using hooks, tongs, tubes, or any other instrument ? Are you going to guarantee every member of this site that if they only use one of those instruments that they will never be bit or that those tools will never be faulty ? I didn't think so.

Pretty much word for word the response I was expecting. Hey, by all means, knock yourself out with your "R8E 3180 Venom Defender Gloves". I'm not in any way trying to tell you not to use them. Just don't post pics of you using them as your 1 and only handling tool here. I'll rely on the companies own disclaimer over your word, and I would suggest others do the same. I really don't see any point in arguing any further. Take care, Marty

You post a 791 word rant about how offened you are about your ad being removed. Again - you didnt pay anything to list the ad, you were given a easy to understand reason and a solution.
You said you were "going to buy a SHHS Tshirt" - I believe this item is more your speed!!

PTK, I understand it is a privilege to post on this site. However, the site still makes revenue off its members. People come to the site to look at the classified ads and topics the members post. If the members have an issue with the site I think that they should at least be entitled to discuss their issue. I mean, at the very least the moderators should take the opinions of the members into consideration since it is a reciprocal relationship. I see enough political correct crap everywhere else on the web. Do we really need it here ? Does my picture really matter ? I am a productive member of this site do I really need to be bothered with this BS ?
BTW, don't you have anything better to do then sit around and count how many words are in my post ? It is kind of pathetic that this is what you do with your time.

Blackmamba. I don't know what you are looking for, but I doubt you will get it. I understand your argument and it seems logical, however that seems to make no difference on this site.

"However, the site still makes revenue off its members."
Really? I have never received a dime in revenue from this site or any of its members. Where do you get that from?
"People come to the site to look at the classified ads and topics the members post. If the members have an issue with the site I think that they should at least be entitled to discuss their issue."
You started the thread to discuss it. The moderators declined to change their opinion.
"I mean, at the very least the moderators should take the opinions of the members into consideration since it is a reciprocal relationship."
Reciprocal how? When the USFWS subpoenas the owner or moderators of this site to appear in oourt concerning the ads or actions of people using the site, where are you? Or any of the other participating members who don't even have last names?
"I see enough political correct crap everywhere else on the web. Do we really need it here ?"
Yes.
"Does my picture really matter ? I am a productive member of this site do I really need to be bothered with this BS ?"
Yes. Yes.
My opinion as one of longest surviving members and site administrators. You have been given permission to repost your ad with an appropriate photo. Whether you choose to do that or not is up to you. You are also free to produce on any other site with better terms of use. Many many others have felt as you do and have left. We are still here. I hope you understand that we set a standard and try to stick by that. If not, I am sorry to lose your productivity.

This is my perspective as a "newb".
1. This is a good website for discussing venomous snakes. Probably the most active one within the North American context.
2. I don't mean to "side" and "hide behind" the moderators, but they can run the ship however they may want.
3. I personally don't think that's free handling, but to a lot of newcomers and or site observers to the site it certainly doesn't give off a positive message since there is such little gap between the poster and the cobra (yes I did see the picture). I think that's where the issue lies.
BTW, aren't those the same gloves that Midwest sells? Why are those ones much more expensive than Midwest ones? I might buy a pair as an added protection if you can get good grippage (? is this a word?) with a hook, for when I get into Elapids.

What reason is there for someone to post a pic on here of themselves holding a cobra unless they want everyone to see a them holding a cobra? If the intent is to sell the snake why pose in the pic with it?

Buzztail, again, I am not here to fight with moderators or challenge the site. I think the site is awesome and you guys can run it however you want. I was just asking the other moderators to reconsider because I honestly believe that I was not free handling the snake, I don't support free handling, and I honestly feel that the gloves are safer then a hook and give me more control. I personally think the gloves could do a lot of good for the herp community and hate to see them slandered like this. I don't make money off the gloves, I wasn't trying to show off, that's just the picture I had on the computer at the time, and I don't even consider what I did dangerous. If you decline, I understand, I won't post any more pics with the gloves. If the USFWS subpoenas this site and demands to know why I posted a picture holding that snake with those gloves please let me know and I will do everything I can to help this site out. Thanks.

Bitiss, I know that hex armor makes a lot of different gloves that vary in strength and flexability so I would double check before I bought anything. These gloves are ok when gripping a hook but nothing special. For me, It's kind of akward to hold a hook with the gloves on. I would rather use the hook with the gloves off so I can maneuver it quicker. However, I usually take the snake out with a hook at first because if you stick your hand in there and try to grab the snake from over their heads they get scared and may strike. They also associate me opening the cage with feeding time and may attack whatever I put in. I take my elapid out by sliding the hook under her head. Once she is out for a few minutes I go under her head and take her off the hook with the gloves. I do everything underhand. My monocle isn't aggressive because I take her out a lot. She never strikes or anything unless I grab her head and force her to bite down on something like I was milking her.
