Hey Fabian. Well, I know for sure what my book says, and it's Keith Budden and he died from a coastal he tried to collect. But since I can't show you my book, I went and typed in "Keith Budden" into Yahoo and came up with various sources. Here is the very first one that popped up. http://www.electricapocalypse.com/taipan/. Note where it says, below the picture of Keith Budden, "Keith Budden shortly before his encounter with a coastal taipan in 1950". It goes on to give basically the same story I told about what happened to the unfortunate Mr. Budden. Anyway, hope this helps.

No problem Fabian. I wouldn't know it myself, except for the fact that I'm obsessed with Aussie elapids and read everything I can possibly find on them :) Sometimes I'll just sit and watch my juvenile Papuan taipans for long periods of time. Out of all the elapids I've ever kept, they are the only ones that don't mind at all to be out exploring the enclosure no matter who is watching. All the other elapids I've had were content with hiding all the time. I hope they continue to be like that as they grow. Anyway, have a good one man.

Just for pointless reference, doing a quick search on the net turned up various article naming him as either "Keith Budden" or "Kevin Budden" (several each), but clearly all taking about the same guy, and all the ones that are specific say it was by a coastal. I have no idea which name is right...

Fabian, I've had these little guys since mid to late Sept. I got them from Robbie at Crocafeller. They are possibly the only cbb canni that have ever been available in the us. As scary as taipans seem, I would much rather mess with them any day than the mambas I've dealt with in the past. I've deemed mambas to be a little "too high blood pressure" for me.
As far as Keith vs. Kevin, since there are obviously many sources that say both, I would imagine the guy either went by both names or both names were legally his. Like maybe a first and middle name. Whatever the case, it was an unfortunate story, but at least his life wasn't wasted and went on to help save many more lives in the future.

I heard the the fierce snake for australia is #1 then #2 was the common brown for australia then #3 tiger snake same place #4 taipan #5 king cobra #6 black mamba any of these snake can kill within 45 if a bite directly hits the blood stream. if i am wrong someone reply and email me their correct list of the top 6. The softskin viper kills the most people every year due to the remoteness of africa and mid eastern countries. hours away from hospitals any of the 30 deadly snakes of africa will kill you. Although there are 90 that will cause medical conditions.
