you seem like you have a great love for the lord. and thats great to see. but about perfection, Jesus told us to be perfect as our father in heaven is perfect(thats in Matthew 5). He will never tell us to do anything that we are not capable of. once you get baptized like Jesus did, and are filled with the holy spirit we are perfect in his sight. once you get filled with the holy spirit we don't have to sin anymore. Jesus said go and sin no more to a woman that was cought adultery(thats in John 8).

Jason,
It is true that Jesus teachings don't ask us to do anything that we are not capable of doing through him. Jesus doesn't ask us to be perfect. He asks us to strive for perfection. But we are saved by GRACE. Salvation is not about what we do or don't do. It is the acceptance of a free gift. The price was already paid when he gave his life for us on the cross. He died for our imperfections. There is no man that has ever lived on earth (christian or otherwise) that can claim perfection except Jesus himself. When we accept Jesus Christ as the lord of our lives he looks past our imperfection and sees righteousness. However, Gods word is very clear about the serious consequences of sin in our lives. He is a merciful God, but he is also a God that is VERY serious about sin.

ok you seem like a nice guy. but your saying things that are not in the bible and its getting to me. the bible does not say anywhere that 'nobody can be perfect other than Jesus'. Jesus said in red letters in matthew "BE YE PERFECT". well it looks like you were write on one thing, he didn't ASK us to be perfect he told us to be. it is true that by his grace we are saved. but getting saved is just the biggening. we have to keep walking righteous(perfect) is Gods sight. If you still don't wont to believe me then thats your problem. you can't say I didn't tell you.
best regards
Jason

MAT 5:48 NIV "Be perfect therefore as your heavenly father is perfect"
In this passage Jesus is telling us to strive for perfection. He is not suggesting that a man has the capability for perfection here on this earth. I would be glad to discuss this further....send me an e-mail if you like so we don't take up too much space this thread.
God bless....

Ladies and Gentlemen,
this debate should be carried on at a religious forum.
The question started out asking if anyone here was a Christian. Answers that directly respond to that question may continue but any further discussion of whether or not something appears in the Bible, or discussion of the contents of the Bible, etc, will be removed as not being on topic and argumentative.
Thank you for your participation,
Karl H. Betz

What Karl is saying makes sense...on that note, can anyone recommend a good religious board?
Thanks

I agree. Karl has a VERY good point. I don't know of any good religious boards but I would love to find one.
