Hi bush viper. I respect what you do for the snakes. You have gained a new fan. Dont worry about these people that criticize you. let them do there thing and you keep doing what you do. I know that you know what you are doing. I can tell. Also I looked at the photo and it isnt a venomoid. I can see the big venom glands and its head isnt caved in. I think we might have the next top class conservationist on hand. Thank you.
p.s. I dont want to post my name because these people on this site are harsh. Ill email you though. I live in Georgia too and we can go herping sometime.

Jeremy:
Cool down and put some of that Testosterone away before you hurt yourself...oh that was the origional reason we started this conversation. I expected your reaction to be like a Taipan that was stepped on and you did not disappoint.
None of us want you to get hurt or possibly killed. On other threads you showed real promise of really knowing what you were talking about. I have said so on the Rattlesnake Study thread. However, your free handling hot snakes blew all of your credability out the window with most of us on this site. To be effective in any venture in life you need to be credible, mostly with your peers. Who are your peers? Us...the people that spend time on this forum listening and learning.
Being considerate of others is another nice trait which helps you progress through life. Not caring if others (your peers) in the field you claim to love so much; loose the privilege of keeping hots will not will win you many friends.
I will not even debate your lame reasons for not using hooks or tongs. Also beware of showing people you spots that hold snakes. You will either find them all killed by those who "swore" not to, or collected to the point of extintion. Just a known fact.
You certainly are acting your age. One day, if you survive, you will understand what point we were trying to get across.
I will not waste anymore of my time on this topic Jeremy. I've made my point and so have others. The rest is up to you: understand, learn & grow. If you would like to discuss meaningful topics like aspects of your Rattlesnake study or how to reach the community and educate them, I would be very willing to discuss those.
Al

I only took offense because people called me stupid. Im far from stupid. Why does everyone think that venomous snakes are bad news. I dont think that they are bad at all as you can tell. I also dont care if I die. If one bit me and I died I wouldnt care at all. I wouldnt go to the hospital, so you dont have to worry about bad publicity. I would walk deep in to the woods and die so that noone would ever find me.

I also dont care about credibility because I wouldnt want it from some of these people on this site. I just want to help conservation. Usually people that try to help animals are the people that get criticized. Take Steve Irwin for example. He dedicates his life to conservation but all he gets is criticizm and court dates. He showed people that you can hand feed a crocodile with a child in your arms and it want come out of the water trying to kill everyone and now people are trying to take his kid away. They slapped him in the face. He is the world leader in crocodiles and because people dont like what he did they are threatning to ruin his family. Why has he never been envenomated. LUCK??? Everyday for years and years and years??? Because he know the animals better than he knows him self....just like me. I dont go out and grab a venomous like its a barbie doll or something. I am extremely carefull. Notice on the picture all I had to do was move my left hand if he came back and slowly set him on the ground. Ive done it before. Please Please dont criticize me for what Im doing. I criticize people who push there heads in the ground and grab them with a death grip. My friend picked a copperhead up by the back of the head. The snake thrashed so hard that he had to squeez harder not to get bit. WHen he set the snake down the snake bled from the mouth and died. I vowed to never pin a snakes head down after witnessing that under any circumstance. Ive also seen the same person break a few ribs on black rat snake by using tongs. Now tell me that Im stupid. The people that put the snake in danger are stupid. I have used a hook several times and almost got bit that way a few times. Ive never came close to getting bit with out tools. And then something clicked in my head. Tool arent right for ME. Notice I said ME.

Bushviper, your old enough to be my son,I started at 13 with my love of herps.I don't wish to dis you but in this day and age nobody on this site want's to hack you off.I hope I can speak for most .I admire your devotion to animals. The bad part is in this day and age there is always someone who wants a cause to make a name for there own gain.Look at the new's guns, aborton, aliens whatever. Were trying to protect and preserve our hobby, passion if you will.I live in one of the few states,Pennsylvania, and a locality that does not prohibit ownership of venomous reptile's.I intend to keep it that way. How?Escape proof cages, proper tool's for husbandry, and and insaine desire not to be the guy that makes the 6 oclock news. Not to mention a life threatening potential. That being said I hope that you as all of us can be a representitive of our hobby.Stay safe.

Hey Bushviper let me tell you something jack you said you love snakes so much, if you get bit people are going to blam the snake not the KID, and you also metioned that you probably know more about snakes than most on this site. You need to talk to a mental health professional. But I know already your fired up and there is no reasoning with you maybe you wont get bit I hope not but if you do one of two things are going to happen your going to realize that, that bite was avoidable and we were all right or you just might take a dirt nap eather way you have done nothing for reptiles but further put them up to trial. As a adult people just might think your stupid but being a minor there going to think it was the snakes fault and you have a foul mouth I dont know many hepetologist that publicaly talk like that.
