Yep. Yesterday while out enjoying the 80 degree break from winter down here in the Dallas, TX area I caught myself a good sized Southern Copperhead. Anyone else have any luck yet?

Around Abilene we've seen a couple Emory's rats, a few Diamondback water snakes, and our first western diamondback has surfaced as well. My trip to the roadcuts yesterday turned up nothing, (was only there an hour though)but I am hopeful for a pair of Mexican Milks here in the next week or so if the weather holds steady.

Elaphe (Pantherophis) emoryi
Nerodia rhombifer
Nerodia eurythrogaster transvera
Crotalus atrox
a huge Chelydra serpentina
Sceloperus olivaceus
a few bullfrogs and cricket frogs
Not bad for February and no real herpin, just incidental finds ;)
