Funny Fact: In the USA each year with an average of 73 people killed by lightning strikes. An average of 15 people are killed each year from venomous snake bites. I guess you could say you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning. :)
Who would have thought?

you are also more likely to die from a peanut in the US then you are a snake bite. somewhere around 200 ppl year die in america as a result of peanuts. =)

Where's Roark (AKA bigsnakedaddy) when you need him? During his educational sessions he lists the most deadly animals in the US. There are several hooved animals in the top 10(horses. pigs, and deer).

I think the number 15 for the U.S. is high. I believe the number is closer to 6 or 7.

Bee sting allergic reactions probably account for at least ten times as many deaths and snakebite.

I recently did a chart on this for a powerpoint presentation... you're twice as likely to die from a random airplane falling out of the sky onto you than from a venomous snakebite in the US ... lol
