One of the saddest things that I see in posts is the belief that "if you keep venomous snakes, you will be bitten eventually". This is the philosophy usually espoused by people who have already been bitten and is rationalization for why they were bitten.
I believe that this fatalistic view actually causes people to be bitten.
If you are not careful, prepared, and always on your guard, you will probably be bitten. If you can't keep venomous snakes in a manner that keeps you from being bitten, then you are doing something wrong. That something wrong, whatever it is, will cause you to get bitten.
If you cannot look at your enclosures and KNOW that your snakes cannot get out of them - get rid of your snakes. It is criminally negligent to keep venomous snakes in an enclosure that they might escape from while you and your family are sleeping.
It is a good part of being a responsible venomous keeper to be prepared for the possibility of a bite. But, if you believe it is an eventuality and not just a possibility, then you are doing something wrong.
PLEASE NOTE!
The above statements are directed at private keepers and not professional venom extractors who are required, by circumstance, to handle their snakes on a frequent basis. My statements are not directed at any one individual but are general in nature. I cannot "prove" them - they are beliefs. If I get to the point where I "believe" that I cannot keep venomous snakes or work with venomous snakes without getting bitten, I will quit and take up knitting. Until then, I will be doing everything I can to keep fangs from meeting my flesh.
Just my own personal beliefs after having kept and worked with venomous snakes for almost 35 years.

Well put, Karl. It's important to be prepared, but to do so with a positive attitude. Saying that a bite is an eventuality sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy to me.

"Also if your not willing to die being in this hobby, then your in the wrong hobby then."
I'm not 'willing to die' for any hobby. If it happens, it will be desopite my best efforts to prevent it. A bite is NOT destined to happen. If it does, I screwed something up and am paying for it. No one should be 'willing to die' for anything other than the people closest to them, in my humble opinion.
"As far as concern for my self, thats the least thing on my mind. But put another human being in the situation, and the other side of the equation cancels out.WHO NEEDS LUCK,WHEN YOU HAVE GOD?!!!! "
There's so much that I could say about this, but I'll hold back. If you're not concerned for yourself, you're also not taking your child's best interests to heart. All I'll ask is; how would your child feel knowing that you were 'willing to die' for a hobby, thereby forcing him/her to grow up without a father? If I was that child, I'd hold a lot of resentment, anger and pain. I'm not telling you not to keep hots, I'm just encouraging you to take a look at your attitude towards being bitten.
As for your last sentence, you don't need luck... or God... Just a very tight set of safety procedures.

Great post Karl.
I have had my share of bites. However, I have never taken a bite by simply moving a snake around or through general husbandry. I can't see why anyone ever should.

Its people like that, that also may get you killed,FOLLOW EVERY PROCEDURE IN THE BOOK, not every circumstance is the same, nor any snake or situation the same.SO I GUESS ALL THE MINERS WHO haved died due to collapse was because they wasnt fallowing safety regulations,Right? Or the katrina events. No matter how prepared, or safe you are ,you got to think about the unexpected. How can you not expect to get bit,WE ARE HUMANS,WHICH MEANs FUCK UPS, WE ALL FUCK UP NO MATTER WHAT.And as i guessed, all of us in here have been bitten,so no argument on that front. How did this go from being a question, to a trial. If this is how it works then ill just make my own decisions with out the EXPERTS ADVICE.GODBLESS,ATHEIST AND ALL.

Three points:
Please refrain from profanity so that I don't have to start removing posts.
This has not become a trial and is still people offering advice based on your first question.
NO! Not all of us have been bitten by something venomous!

Nobody is trying to put you on trial, but you are making some pretty big assumptions about us. I don't plan on getting bit. I do have my procedures in place but hope to never need then. Also you need to remember that on a forum all we have is your words. Poor grammar and spelling reflects bad on you when there is no other way of assessing you.
