That sounds great, Tim! I actually have been talking with some of my friends in the western and southern states to try to find me some Thamnophis species for my upcoming projects. Some people laugh at the thought of collecting garters, but I love their variability. In all seriousness, let me know if you come across any exceptionally-looking garters.
I do plan on starting up my garter projects again soon.

John,
Sounds like the same situation I have dealt with over the past decade. The den sites are high and remote but the animals tend to migrate down to the apple orchards and farmlands during the Summer. Initially my studies and activities drew much curiosity which actually ended up working in my favor. The locals still call me the crazy snake guy but instead of the conversation being "I killed one last week", it's "I saw one last week" or they call me to move the snake back to the base of the mountain.
I've been observing this particular area for one full decade and have to admit the level of cooperation and open mindedness from this small farming community has been a blessing and has given me hope that mankind doesn't have to conduct themselves like complete idiots.

My projects for 2011 are:
1. Rebuild my Eastern Diamondback collection as much as possible. I will be looking for locality offspring this year so keep me in mind if you have a clutch of babies.
2.Build a breeding group of locality specific Canebrake rattlesnakes from GA,SC and FLA.
3. Increase my breeding group of Carolina Pigmies, and obtain new locality animals.
4. Try and have fun!
Hope you all have a great year in the field and collections.
Paul

I should have some nice locality specific horridus this year Paul. I'll let you know what turns up. As for this year, I plan on finishing the expansion of my herp building. I started it about 18 months ago, doubling the size from 12' X 20' to 24' X 20'. All that's left is finishing some insulation and then sheet rock. Other than that, I'd just like to get out in the field more than I have the past couple of years. Take care, Marty
